Custom Microgrids

SHARE

With a custom microgrid installation, you not only have a back-up in case the grid fails, but you will enhance the way your energy functions within the grid for normal daily operation. Simultaneously delivering cost savings, resiliency, and sustainability, microgrids can reduce peak demand charges and lower your utility bill, selectively running the charging phase whenever the cheapest power is available from the grid or from onsite energy generation. Not only does this save your operational spend, but you can feel confident about tapping into a cleaner alternative to diesel generators too.

A microgrid is an on-site energy system that supports your energy resilience by integrating several distributed energy technologies into a single controllable solution. It can operate by supplementing the utility grid in grid parallel mode, and it can function completely autonomously in island mode. Microgrids provide our customers with cleaner, cheaper, and more stable energy.

We finance our projects through Microgrid Service Agreements (MSA) that function similarly to Energy Service Agreements (ESA). Our MSA allows us to utilize multiple technologies across our project portfolio without additional contractual hassle. In an MSA, the customer will solely be responsible for the contractually agreed upon $/kWh generated from the microgrid. This allows customers to avoid large upfront capital expenditures, and most importantly, avoid operational risk of the system. Alternately, customers who opt for an Energy Service Agreement or Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) are able to capture ongoing energy savings with no upfront costs. Scale builds the project, retains ownership, operates and maintains the assets, then charges the customer a fee for offsetting grid electricity.
