Structure and Encapsulation Material

• The casing is usually made of materials like epoxy resin. This material provides insulation and protects the internal components of the transformer from environmental factors such as dust, moisture, and chemicals. It also helps in reducing the risk of electrical shock.
• The core and windings of the transformer are housed inside this encapsulation. The core is often made of magnetic materials like silicon - steel laminations that help in efficient magnetic flux linkage. The windings, made of copper wire, are carefully wound around the core and are insulated from each other and the core.

Applications

• They are widely used in power supplies for electronic devices such as computers, chargers, and power adapters. Their small and encapsulated form allows them to fit into the limited space of these devices and provides the necessary voltage conversion safely.
