The diagnosis of electrical equipment concerns all the facilities, from the incoming substation to the loads: networks, transformers, drives, motors and generators, resistances etc…
ts purpose is to carry out a balance of power to detect faults concerning the network or consumers, to capture transient and random faults, to detect control and regulation problems, as well as detecting electro-magnetic faults concerning rotating machines. Trouble spots which are the source of failures or fire will also be detected.
The investigation tools used are varied:
- Simultaneous recording of electric and process signals
- balance of power of the equipment
- identification of torque fluctuations
- vibratory spectrum
- control measurements at a standstill: insulation resistance, IP, profile of the collectors…
- infrared thermography of cabinets and rotating machines
For the turbo-generator sets, a specific vibratory and electrical test programme is recommended to record its electro-mechanical behaviour in all of the speed increase, coupling and load variation stages.
