Energy Storage System
From Residential
Solar photovoltaic systems generate electricity during the day when there is sunlight. But what happens at night when there is no sun? This is where the utility company comes into the picture. They can provide you with energy during times when your pv system is not, like night or extremely cloudy days. The local utility company uses a net metering system. If, at the end of the month, you used more energy than your pv system generated, the utility company will charge you for the difference. If energy generated by your system was more than what you used, you will only be billed the minimum hook-up fee charged by the utility company.
Products Overview
But what if you want to store and use all the solar power you generate, or your neighborhood is off the grid or the utility company will not authorize adding solar in your area? This is where batteries or energy storage devices, come into play.
A Simple and Elegant Solution
Aquion’s technology is based on a simple idea: In order to meet the challenges of the world’s growing energy needs and increase the use of renewable power, there is a need for large-scale energy storage systems that are high performance, safe, sustainable and cost-effective. They discovered a simple and elegant solution to this problem, one that is a twist on a 200 year-old technology: saltwater batteries. Aquion developed this solution into a patented Aqueous Hybrid Ion (AHI™) chemistry, a unique saltwater electrolyte battery technology. Using abundant, nontoxic materials and modern low cost manufacturing techniques, AHI batteries are a clean, safe, affordable solution for storing your solar power.
