The UK government has launched the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) to accelerate the deployment of a number of technologies including biomass boilers. The RHI is a fixed, index-linked income paid to you for every unit of heat you generate from renewable sources over a 20 year period, protected and guaranteed by primary legislation.

Heat generated by the biomass boiler also means money off your existing heating bill, whether you`re completely replacing gas, oil or LPG or running biomass and fossil-fuel boilers together. The RHI scheme is open from summer 2011 and is administered by Ofgem. It is aimed at all non-domestic applications and you will be paid quarterly by BACS for every kilowatt hour of heat produced by your new biomass boiler based on the meter readings you submit.

The level of tariff is set from the date of registration but will be decreased as more organisations sign up, so to maximise the level of 20 year fixed tariff available to your project, you should act now.
