High Solids Anaerobic Digestion
Transform organic waste into renewable energy with high solids anaerobic digestion. Anaergia’s patented OREX™ system enables the extraction of up to 90% of organics from municipal solid waste—but our systems don’t stop there. Our technologies go on to transform the organic faction of municipal solid waste into valuable energy, recycled water, and high-quality fertilizer.
The heart of these technologies is our patented Omnivore® advanced high solids anaerobic digestion system, which can triple the capacity of traditional digesters. We do this through a combination of our PSM smart mixing systems and our robust thickening technologies.
These unique technologies increase the solids ratio in digesters so they can be one-third smaller than traditional digesters—reducing space requirements, capital expenditure and operating expenses. The resulting increase in biogas production allows many facilities to generate power onsite or put renewable natural gas (biomethane) into the regional pipeline system.
DIGEST AT A STANDALONE FACILITY OR AT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS
Anaergia’s high solids anaerobic digestion system presents a unique opportunity for municipal solid waste operations to have wet fraction co-digested with wastewater biosolids—so municipalities can optimize their existing infrastructure, reduce public costs, and fast track a new organics digestion program. The Omnivore system allows wastewater facilities to co-digest source separated organics, the organic fraction of municipal solid waste, or food processing waste together with wastewater biosolids. The Omnivore can even digest fats, oils, and grease.
- Handle food waste recovered from municipal solid waste through anaerobic digestion.
- Co-digest food waste extracted from municipal solid wasteat wastewater treatment plants.
- Maximize the production of valuable clean energy
- Create high-value organic fertilizer
- Compact footprint for reduced CAPEX and lifecycle costs
- Digest the organic fraction of municipal solid waste
- Reduce the footprint of new anaerobic digesters
- Co-digest source separated organics or OREX-separated organic fraction with other feedstocks such as fats, oils, and grease, or high strength industrial waste
