ZGT - Model 65Mn -Hight Carbon Steel Plate
65Mn steel is a high-carbon steel mainly used for manufacturing springs and other parts requiring high strength and good hardenability, such as tools. In major Chinese steel mills, it is a preferred material for making blades and knives in the blade industry.
Due to its high hardness, strength, and wear resistance, 65Mn steel is widely used in the following fields:
Springs: Used for manufacturing various mechanical springs, automotive suspension springs, clutch springs, etc.
Cutlery and Tools: Suitable for making gardening tools, hand tools, saw blades, etc.
Hammers and Impact Tools: Used for making various hammer heads, impact tools, chisels, etc.
Wear-resistant Parts: Widely used for making bearings, gears, chains, and other parts that require high wear resistance.

Edge Heat Treatment and Full Piece Heat Treatment: Edge heat treatment hardness can reach up to 50 HRC, while full piece heat treatment generally achieves 48-50 HRC. Many customers report that 65Mn performs exceptionally well in terms of sharpness and toughness. In agricultural tools, it can cut through wire without chipping; in slicing knives, it offers clean cuts and good durability; in crushing knives, it shows good toughness and longevity, reducing the need for frequent replacements.
Characteristics of Cutlery Steel
High Carbon Content: Can easily be heat-treated to achieve high hardness, but has relatively high brittleness and poor formability. Regular hot-rolled steel bends to 60 degrees before cracking (many carbon steels can bend to 90 degrees with a large radius).
Manganese Content: Provides some elasticity and fatigue resistance, making it a type of spring steel.
Market Acceptance
Medium to high special steel customized 65Mn plates have been accepted for a long time. Some customers report using it as wear-resistant steel, stating that the wear resistance of untreated 65Mn plates with high carbon and manganese content can match that of standard NM400 steel.
