IWATSUModel DM-8000H - Isolation System for Inverter Measurements

SHARE

The Isolation System DM-8000H is designed specifically to enhance the accuracy and safety of inverter voltage measurements, including Vce and Vge of the inverter's upper arms. Traditional single-ended oscilloscope probes pose significant risks, and although differential probes are an alternative, they suffer from various limitations such as in-phase removal ratio and voltage resistance issues, which lead to waveform distortion and inadequate measurement bandwidth. The DM-8000H addresses these challenges by incorporating an isolation method utilizing optical fibers and battery power, thereby circumventing conventional constraints. This system enables simultaneous measurement of upper and lower arm parameters like Vce, Vge, Ic, output voltage, and current waveforms. Additionally, it allows for measuring crucial parameters such as dv/dt, di/dt, and power loss. It also supports long-distance, multi-point surge measurements, capable of extending optical fiber cable up to 200 meters for distant evaluations.

  • High voltage measurement and operation parts are separated with fiber-optic isolation
  • The high voltage measurement part is battery operated (continuous operation for about 12 hours)

  • Lightning surge waveform observation

When measuring the Vce and Vge of the upper arm of an inverter, it is necessary to measure the gate voltage and the collector voltage based on the output waveform. It is dangerous to use the single-ended input probe supplied with an oscilloscope so it cannot be used.

In the past, differential probes have been used for such measurements, but due to in-phase removal ratio and in-phase voltage resistance constraints, waveforms become distorted and it has been difficult to ensure sufficient measurement bandwidth.

In this isolation system, optical fiber and battery-powered isolation allow accurate signal observation without the above constraints.

3-phase inverter upper and lower arm simultaneous measurement

Simultaneous measurement of Vce, Vge, Ic, and output voltage and current waveforms of the inverter upper and lower arms is possible. In addition, parameters such as dv/dt, di/dt, and power loss can be measured.

Long-distance multi-point surge measurements such as switches

In surge measurements for switches, when the distance between the high-voltage measurement part and the operation part is separated, it is possible to measure a distance of up to 200m by extending the optical fiber cable.
