Active Front End (AFE) TechnologyPhase Technologies` patented AFE technology offers distinct advantages over a standard six-pulse diode VFD. Utility voltage is often unbalanced, which can damage a six-pulse VFD unless it is over-sized. Open delta three-phase service also has potential to damage a standard VFD due to voltage imbalance. AFE technology compensates for the unbalance without over-sizing. Low input harmonics and true power factor correction are additional advantages of AFE.
