Salzgitter - Mechanical and Pneumatic Tapping Systems for Heat Exchanger Cleaning
In waste incineration plants and biomass power plants, horizontal boiler trains require efficient cleaning of evaporators, superheaters, and economizers. This is achieved through mechanical or pneumatic tapping systems. These systems operate by striking the bottom of horizontal collectors, which in turn creates an impulse on the vertically suspended heating surfaces to dislodge deposits. This method eliminates the need for additional cleaning media such as steam, air, or water. With over 20 years of experience in optimizing existing tapping systems, Salzgitter Kesselservice has been offering our own tapping devices for the past decade. Each system is custom-tailored to the specific boiler and fuel type and is entirely manufactured in Salzgitter, Germany. We provide three primary types of tapping systems: pneumatic tapping devices with individual tappers (EKL), pneumatic tapping devices with tapping wagons (PKL), and mechanical tapping devices (MKL). Each type has unique advantages and can be adapted to different boiler configurations and contamination issues.

The system:
In horizontal boiler passes in waste incineration plants and biomass power plants, the evaporators, superheaters and ECOs are optimally cleaned by so-called knocking devices.
The bottoms of the horizontal collectors are tapped pneumatically or mechanically, giving an impulse to the vertically hanging heating surfaces that loosens the dirt from the pipe. And all this without the use of additional cleaning media such as steam, air or water!
With over 20 years of experience in optimizing existing knocking systems, we have been offering various knocking devices of our own for 10 years now.
Each system has its advantages and is individually adapted to the respective boiler and fuel and is completely manufactured by us in Salzgitter, “Made in Germany”.

Each collector is tapped by its own impact cylinder, which can be controlled individually.
Pneumatic tapping device with tapping carriage PKL
One or two impact cylinders are mounted on an electrically driven knocking carriage and thus clean a complete area of the horizontal pass of the boiler.
Mechanical knocking device MKL
A complete area of the boiler's horizontal passage is cleaned using several drop hammers arranged on a common rotating shaft. The shafts are each electrically driven. The impact energy depends on the weight of each individual drop hammer.
