Our company was originally founded in 1935 by Arthur Giersbach, a local Clintonville man who created a line of specialty equipment for the telephone and electrical power line industries. His plan was to create products to aid contractors and city utilities to more efficiently and safely erect power poles and lines. Arthur quickly added on a line of utility and work truck bodies and called his business Utility Tool & Body Company, Inc. His concept was simple: by concentrating on this niche market, he could deliver to his customers a line of equipment tailor-made for their needs.

Over the years, the business expanded into a wide array of additional markets including farm equipment, tree planters and specially designed trailers for both utility and military use.

Now, more than 75 years later, we have become known as Utility Tool & Trailer, Inc. Today we provide specially engineered products for the utility, commercial and military markets, with end users such as Altec, the Department of Defense (DoD), Caterpillar, General Dynamics, L-3 Communications, Raytheon and Miller Electric.

This has been successfully accomplished through an expert Engineering staff, whose capabilities include the use of SolidWorks Design software, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA). This complete design and modeling system provides engineering, design and fatigue analysis of new products – all through use of computer 3D modeling and simulation.

Utility Tool & Trailer has maintained an ISO Certified quality system since 2007. This program helps us keep our focus on our customers and deliver the quality products they expect.

Our main cornerstone of delivering this quality product line of time-tested trailers, equipment and components is our workforce. They are at the core of everything we do. Averaging more than 18 years of service each, these people are the backbone of our company and have made UTT the quality company it is today. We thank them for their dedication and support.

Utility Tool & Trailer is currently undergoing another major modernization and expansion program, diversifying our product lines and capabilities even further. This expansion will keep us on the edge of current technology and ensure our customers the highest quality products.
