Natural Carbon Sink

Mineral carbonation, the reaction of CO₂ with metal oxides to create carbonates, occurs naturally around the world. Limestone, or calcium carbonate, comprises approximately 15% of the Earth's sedimentary crust, making it a critical global carbon sink. By harnessing the natural ability of limestone and similar carbonates, we can permanently remove CO₂ at the gigatonne level.
