Octopus High Energy

By combining industry-leading cell technology, our ten years of experience with our new inhouse built platform and module, we created the Octopus Series High Energy. Maritime Type Approved: The Octopus High Energy battery system has DNV, Bureau Veritas and Lloyd’s register Type Approval. Easy to integrate: Our new system comes with the String Controller and Octopus Series platform, which ensures easy integration with any system. Scalable to your needs: The Octopus Series battery system can be designed to meet your energy systems need. Whether you’re equipping a full-electric fleet or adapting existing infrastructure there’ a solution.

Low weight & high volumetric density

The optimized design of the Octopus Series ensures the battery system is lower in weight and higher in density, compared to the previous Green Orca system.

Passive cell-to-cell thermal runaway protection

In our unique cell-stack a solution is incorporated that prevents cell-to-cell propagation in the unlikely event of cell overheating. The other cells won’t overheat due to this solution, which prevents greater damage to the system.

Scalable up to multiple MWh

Our modular system can be designed to meet your specific needs. We will have a look at your requirements and the energy demand, and based on that information, we will suggest a capacity and system configuration. Systems starting from 100 kWh up to multiple MWh.

Optional active air cooling

The cooling heatsink designed on the module ensures optimal heat rejection; this is why active cooling is often not a necessity. But there is the option for active air cooling, which can, for example, be beneficial in heavy-duty load profiles in combination with continuous cycling.

Gas exhaust system

Our exhaust systems is designed to safely guide the gasses to a safe zone outside the ship in the unlikely event of a thermal runaway. This means the battery room is safe to enter.

Thanks to our customizable, lightweight rack solutions, Octopus® battery storage systems fit into virtually every battery room.

IACS Class compliant (DNV, LR, BV, RINA, ABS)

Our battery system has several maritime certifications. These third parties have witnessed rigorous testing of the Octopus Series battery system. The Octopus Series has type approvals from DNV, BV and Lloyd’s Register.

10+ years lifetime*

With average maritime use, lifetime expectancy can exceed 10 years. Our Lithium-Ion NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide) cells are a market premium, quality tested before fitted inside the module. With our knowledge and database which we build and filled over the last 10+ years with data, we can calculate the performance and expected life time according to the intended use aboard the vessel.
