Maritime certified
Besides that the module is safe-by-design, EST-Floattech has incorporated cell-to-cell propagation prevention solutions. The High Power modules meet the strictest Maritime class requirements and has type approvals from: Lloyd’s Register, DNV and Bureau Veritas.

Easy to install
Our dedicated teams and service professionals are at your service. Each string of batteries has a String Controller which provides easy integration with the ship’s system. EST-Floattech also provides a single platform for virtually any type of ship and propulsion system, keeping monitoring, management accessibility and ease of operation the same across your fleet.

Scalable to your needs
Each of the designs is customized to ensure it fits into the available space. And is suitable for any changes in your on-board architecture and power requirements. Whether you want to equip an all-electric fleet or adapt an existing infrastructure, there is a solution.

High power density

Cell-to-cell thermal runaway protection

Cell-to-cell propagation is prevented thanks to a solution incorporated in the cell-stacks. In the unlikely event of a cell overheating, our cell-stack is built in a way that the other cells won’t overheat. This prevents greater damage to the system.

Low weight & high volumetric density

Scalable up to multiple MWh

Our modular system can be designed to your specific needs. We will have a look at your requirements and the energy demand, based on that information we suggest a capacity and system configuration. Systems starting from 100 kWh up to multiple MWh.

Voltage up to 1000 VDC (nominal)

Optional forced air-cooling

The cooling heatsink designed on the module ensure optimal heat rejection, this is why active cooling is often not a necessity. But there is the option for active air cooling, which can for example be beneficial in heavy duty load profiles in combination with continuous cycling.

Gas exhaust system

Our exhaust systems is designed to safely guide the gasses to a safe zone outside the ship in the unlikely event of a thermal runaway. This means the battery room is safe to enter.

Unique and flexible rack design

Thanks to our customizable, lightweight rack solutions, Octopus® energy storage systems fit into almost every battery room.

IACS Class compliant (DNV, LR, BV, RINA, ABS)

Our battery system has several marine certifications. These third parties have witnessed rigorous testing of the Octopus Series battery system. It now has type approvals from DNV, BV and Lloyd’s Register.

10+ years lifetime*

With average maritime use, lifetime expectancy can exceed 10 years. Our Lithium-Ion NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide) cells are a market premium, quality tested before fitted inside the module. With our knowledge and database which we build and filled over the last 10+ years with data, we can calculate the performance and expected life time according to the intended use aboard the vessel.
