Optimize Organic Waste Recycling
Anaergia’s unique OREX™ organic extrusion press technology optimizes organic waste recycling by extracting about 90% of putrescible organics from solid waste. When OREX is used at a high-diversion organic waste recycling facility, consumers don’t need to source separate their food waste. Waste haulers can eliminate separate collection bins and costly additional pickups, making organic waste recycling with OREX the lowest-cost method of diverting organic waste from landfills.
The OREX can be easily integrated into existing materials recovery facilities or transfer stations, allowing them to divert more waste from landfills and turn the organic fraction of municipal solid waste into valuable biogas or renewable natural gas.
The organic material extracted by the OREX can be converted into biogas or renewable natural gas at a standalone anaerobic digestion facility, or it can be co-digested at wastewater treatment plants along with wastewater biosolids. OREX’s highly effective extraction helps keep anaerobic digesters operating smoothly and reduces digester maintenance costs.
Residuals Diversion
Anaergia organic waste recycling facilities maximize the recovery of plastics, paper, and metal while transforming the non-degradable and non-recyclable rejects coming out of OREX into dense refuse-derived fuel with increased calorific value and lower moisture content.
- Maximize recovery of wet organics from municipal solid waste
- Eliminate source separation of organic waste
- Reduce the cost of diverting organics from landfills
- Generate a high-value clean wet fraction for anaerobic digestion
- Increase the calorific value of the reject fraction
- Mechanical biological treatment for mixed municipal solid waste (MSW) – Extract organics and recover recyclables while producing clean energy, fertilizers, and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF)
- Remove contamination from various organic feedstocks in preparation for anaerobic digestion
- Process a broad variety of waste streams such as highly contaminated MSW, food waste, kitchen & catering waste, source separated organics, food and garden waste, and wet commercial waste
