With presses ranging from 12,000 tons to 35,000 tons, PCC Energy has the most comprehensive pipe extrusion capability in the world. The streamlined capabilities of Special Metals, Wyman Gordon, PCC Rollmet, PCC KLAD, and Chengde, provide PCC not only with the ability to make the largest diameter pipe, but also the longest length. Other capabilities include thick-walled pipe, extreme thin wall, cold-drawn extrusion, and a unique variety of alloys.

Along with the highly engineered alloys from Special Metals - MONEL, INCONEL, INCOLOY, NIMONIC, NILO, and nickel based - pipe product can be extruded in a range of sizes and variety of materials, including carbon and alloy steels, stainless and duplex alloys, X grades, low temperature steel, chrome moly, as well as nickel-based titanium and powder metal alloys.

The 2010 joint venture with Chengde Steel Tube Company and the 2011 acquisitions of PCC KLAD and PCC Rollmet have greatly extended the PCC Energy Group capabilities and services worldwide. One such unique capability is the cold drawing performed by PCC Rollmet. Strengths of roll-extruded solid-solution alloy pipes are usually greater than those of conventional manufactured pipe/tube because of the fine grain size achieved through cold working plus recrystallization.

The pipe and tubing products serve the power generation markets, processed oil and gas, offshore and defense industries, as well as various mechanical and structural applications using tubular products. The high-alloy nickel-casing and mechanical tubing products are used in the world’s most technically demanding industries and applications, including sour service, high pressure, and high temperature.

PCC Energy serves the power generation market with transfer pipe, boiler tube, main steam pipe, hot re-heat pipe, flue gas desulphurization units and other products for nuclear, coal-fired, solar and combined cycle applications. For the Oil and Gas industry, PCC manufactures seamless extruded pipe for production risers, line pipe, stress joints, tension joints, landing strings, connector stock, keel joints, CRA clad flowlines, and jumpers.

Chemical processing products include pipe and tube for ethylene production, caustic soda production, and heat exchanger tubes.  We also make a variety of products for the medical and general industrial industries to include x-ray machines, thermocouple sheathing tubes for industrial furnaces and boiler tubes.

Through the Chengde facility, PCC manufactures seamless, extruded pipe for boiler applications in coal-fired plants, as well as pipe and tubing for other energy related applications, such as compressed natural gas and mechanical applications.

Stocks

Many standard pipe sizes are available from stock in Huntington WV (USA) and Hereford (UK), from the Special Metals Services locations in continental Europe, or from the independent distributors worldwide. Please ask for local details.

Manufacturing

Cold-worked, seamless tubing is made by tube reduction (pilgering) or cold-drawing according to the alloy, size and finish required. As-extruded pipe and tube sizes are also available. Testing facilities include visual, hydraulic, ultrasonic, eddy current, and boroscope examinations.

Size Capabilities

Cold-worked, seamless tubing is available in the 9.5 - 219 mm (3/8 - 8 5/8 in) O.D. range. As-extruded (hot-worked) tubing is available in the 50.8 - 254 mm (2 - 10 in) O.D. range.

Minimum Mill Quantities

Small batch quantities, 250 or 500 kg, can be offered for most tube sizes.
