Engineered for flexibility, the AirCool offers an alternative to traditional morgue trailers, aiming to enhance dignity and safety during body storage. It is equipped with lightweight and thermally efficient insulation to maintain low temperatures in diverse environments. The refrigeration unit's portability allows for easy assembly and disassembly, supporting quick deployment in emergency situations, including Mass Fatality Incidents. With a range of models and a 5°C operation even in temperatures up to 40°C, the system satisfies both immediate and long-term storage needs. Institutions can opt for purchase or rental arrangements tailored to their specific requirements.

Hospital preparedness teams should incorporate the Flexmort AirCool as their first-line response for increasing morgue capacity in Tier 1 and Tier 2 emergency planning. Unlike morgue trailers, which are often seen as undignified and pose manual handling risks, the AirCool is a safer, more respectful solution than some trailers. Designed racking with rollers on every level, it allows for efficient body storage without the heavy lifting required by trailers.

In a Mass Fatality Incident (MFI), the AirCool can be deployed immediately, expanding a hospital’s morgue by at least 12 additional spaces indoors, maintaining privacy and security. This rapid response is independent of state or regional support, ensuring hospitals can act without waiting for external resources. While some hospital emergency plans claim trailers can be delivered within 24 hours, their availability during multi-state emergencies is uncertain. If multiple states require trailers simultaneously, delays and significant costs are inevitable.

The AirCool is a compact, portable, and cost-effective solution, offering hospitals a practical first step in managing surge capacity. When an MFI escalates to extreme levels, morgue trailers may become necessary, but not every MFI involves dozens of fatalities. Many incidents result in 5-6 deaths, which can still overwhelm a hospital morgue.

Large Temporary Decedent Refrigeration

The AirCool pop-up mortuary storage is available in multiples of 4 (i.e. AirCool 4, AirCool 8, AirCool 12, AirCool 16, AirCool 24).

This can provide mobile mortuary storage for a higher number of deceased.

It is also worth noting that although it is described as a temporary mortuary, it can easily be used as long-term mortuary refrigeration.

We also supply a range of cooling systems so that the AirCool meets the specific demands of the environment.

The AirCool Extreme allows the AirCool system to operate at 5°C even in temperatures up to 40°C.

Special Mortuary Affairs Requirements
