Smoothwall - HDPE Cable Reel for Underground Installation
Smoothwall HDPE is the most commonly used underground raceway and is typically packaged in continuous lengths on reels or coils allowing for fast installation with minimum joints. Smoothwall can be installed via trenching, plowing and directional drilling. Smoothwall is available in numerous colors and stripe combinations for easy identification. There are numerous wall thicknesses available as required to meet the particular installation methods and ground conditions.
Bull-Line pull tape can be pre-installed in Smoothwall. This eliminates the need to install a measuring or pull tape after installation.
Dura-Line Smoothwall HDPE Conduit is made to Industry Standards for Power and Communications Applications. It can be installed using open trench methods, HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilled) Plowed, or pulled into conduit. There are also versions available for aerial applications.
With optional SilicoreTM Permanently Lubricated Lining, Smoothwall duct can be maximized for greater pulling and jetting distances, reducing the coefficient of friction over standard HDPE conduit.
- Supported bend radius for 1/2" through 2 1/2" is 10 times the OD while the unsupported bend radius is 20 times the OD. Supported bend radius for 3" rthrough 6" is 11 times the OD while the unsupported bend radius is 22 times the OD. Supported bend radius for 8" through 16" is 18 times the OS while the unsupported bend radius is 27 times the OD.
- During cable placement, large sweeping bends are recommended in place of tighter bends. Preformed sweeps are recommended for conduit sizes 8" through 16" diameters.
- "Safe Working Load" is calculated using a 20% safety factor with the minimum resin tensile of 3000 psi, the average OD and minimum wall thickness.
- Depending on wall type, conduits 4” and larger may be available in straight lengths only, rather than coils or reels.
