Solid Oxide Stacks for Fuel Cell Systems
From ElcoStack
Whether you are building a CHP system or off-grid genset, the elcoStack provides the highest efficiency power generation. Your system can run on e.g. biogas or natural gas today and on hydrogen in the future, providing low OPEX and protecting your investment.

Key Advantages
We have shown a market leading electrical efficiency of more than 75% in fuel cell mode with our commercial grade elcoStack E3000.
The elcoStack can use different fuels like biogas, natural gas, and hydrogen to generate electrical power. On top of that, most hydrocarbons can be converted into electricity with the elcoStack in combination with a fuel processing system.
Our stacks are running at a low operating temperature, making it easier to integrate them into your system. The operating temperature is in the range of 570 – 720 °C for the fuel cell mode. The reduced operating temperature is beneficial in selecting reliable and cost-effective balance of plant components. Because of the reduced temperature, you can e.g., connect more stacks in series and reduce your DC/DC converter losses and costs. You can also reduce the amount of costly heat insulation material because of reduced heat losses.
Design Modularity
The elcoStack E3000 is an ideal building block for large fuel cell and electrolysis systems. The design principle of the elcoStack is to enable easy integration of multiple stacks around one gas distribution structure enabling standardised pipe connection options.
This integrated structure is called elcoModule. elcoModules are supplied at the moment with one, two and four stack configurations, and customisation can be done on request.
Integration and Engineering Services
Our experienced engineers can support you in all stages of system development. Starting from validating your test procedures via system design reviews up to on-line or on-site support during the start-up of your prototype, we will make sure that your application works perfectly with our stacks. This reduces your development effort and cost and ensures a faster time to market for your system. We routinely perform the following tasks in support of our customer’s system development:
- Consulting on process design
- Advise on balance of plant component selection
- Consulting on the system design
- Simulations and process calculations
- Consulting on testing and operation procedures
- On-line or on-site support for integrating Elcogen Stack Module to customer system
- On-line or on-site support for initial stack module testing
