Stand-Alone Solar Energy Generators
The battery bank stores the solar energy generated...
The battery bank stores the solar energy generated and not consumed as that energy is generated. The solar energy thus accumulated is delivered to the consumption points at night and on cloudy days.
The charge regulator is an electronic device that prevents battery bank from either overcharging or excessively discharging, said regulator increases battery bank lifetime.
If any one or more loads are to be supplied with alternate current (110 or 220 Volts), a CC/AC inverter should be intercalated between the battery bank and these.
The generating capacity of a Solar Energy Electric Generator depends on the size of the generator and on the solar resource available at the location where the generator is installed.
Solar Energy Generators are designed in such a way that the energy to be generated should be equivalent to that required by the loads connected to said generators. In general, the solar energy required is estimated for the month with the lowest insolation level (winter time). Where loads are rather high, solar energy generators are combined with other alternative electric power sources (e.g. diesel generators, wind power generators, and thermo electric generators), constituting the so-called 'Hybrid Systems'.
In the special case of water pumping, the solar energy generator does not use any batteries. The pump is directly connected to the photovoltaic modules. The amount of pumped water is directly proportional to the effective insolation level, and the water tank operates as an accumulator that substitutes the batteries.
For supplying solar energy to small housing units, huts, and the like, which involve daily energy consumption (or energy consumption with no longer than 2 days' interruptions), using the Self-Regulated Generator generators is advisable:
Self Regulated Generators
Main advantages: simplicity and low cost.
For these generators Solartec utilizes 2 models of modules, i.e. the KS40TA and the KS56TA. These models consist of 32 series-connected photovoltaic cells instead of the 36 cells that constitute the conventional modules. The lesser number of cells restrains the operational voltage to 14.5 - 15 Volts. This lets electric current generation self-regulate according to the battery charge condition, thus avoiding any overcharge. This special feature makes the charge regulator unnecessary.
In this case, the systems consist of one or two parallel-connected module/s and are directly connected -together with the pertinent point of consumption- to the batteries.
Our Company has standardized Autonomous Solar Energy Generators assigned to the electrification of small- and middle-sized rural homes, i.e.:
