Sound PlanningVertical Enclosures for Heat Pump Systems

SHARE

As a special enclosure that is purpose built to surround your vertical exhaust Air Source Heat Pump system, our ASHP Vertical enclosures are specially designed to address the following issues:

Regulations and Government Noise Provisions

British Standard 4142: 2014 is used to determine appropriate industrial and commercial noise levels in mixed residential and commercial areas.

Microgeneration Installer Standard (MIS) 3005
Requirements for noise:
  • The ASHP system’s location should be carefully considered to avoid nuisance to neighbours
  • The ducts and any internal fans should be fitted with the sound attenuation device
Requirements for vibration:
  • The ASHP system should not be located on floors or adjacent to sleeping areas; since they can transmit vibrations
  • The following requirements should also be considered:
    • Anti-vibration pads
    • Mats
    • Mounts
    • Flexible hose connections
Our ASHP Vertical Enclosures include:
  • Front access panel
  • An intake air acoustic louvre
  • High performance vertical exhaust air attenuators
  • BS or RAL painted colour
  • Additional absorptive panels for improved performance
  • Fully integrated system
  • Full acoustic design
  • Full service for the product’s installation
VRV & VRF Air Source Heat Pump (Twin Fan) Unit Enclosures
  • Supply & installation services
  • Noise impact calculation services
  • Sound reduction 11 – 20 dB(A)
  • Typically designed to < 20 Pa pressure drop
  • Internal air separation canvasses for preventing warn/cold air recirculation whilst maintaining fan servicing.
  • Enclosures polyester powder coated to any standard RAL colour
  • Hinged door options available
  • 20 – 30 dB(A) sound reduction variants available on application.
  • Bespoke solutions also available

Due to the diverse range of projects undertaken, attenuator construction also includes a wide range of options that can fully cater to various specifications.

Circular Silencer

The circular silencer range is typically used in ductwork systems, where it can be duct mounted or bolted directly onto the fan – if size allows.

Depending on the acoustic requirements, circular attenuators can incorporate a central ‘pod’ that can increase the acoustic performance in terms of insertion loss – attenuators without a pod can only offer acoustic performance at minimal resistance to airflow.

Cross-Talk

Cross-talk attenuators are selected using our calculation software – to help determine the necessary insertion losses, whilst maintaining low system pressure drops (a pre-requisite at this point in the system). This range can either be of rectangular or circular construction.

Attenuator End Connections:

  • Rolled steel angle flanges (rectangular)
  • Slide on Doby type flanges (rectangular)
  • Spigot ends (both)
  • End flanges that incorporate threaded inserts (circular)

Splitter Orientation:

  • Vertically mounted splitters (rectangular)
  • Horizontally mounted splitters (rectangular)
  • Central pod kit (circular)

Pressure Ratings:

  • DW144 class B leakage and up to 1000 Pascal’s positive pressure or 750 Pascal’s negative pressure
  • DW144 class D leakage and up to 2500 Pascal’s positive pressure or 750 Pascal’s negative pressure

Other:

  • Acoustic media wrapped in melinex – typically used in systems where grease and/or high moisture levels occur and hospital/clean room applications
  • Wrapping of the attenuator ends with polythene to prevent the ingress of rubble on site
  • Paint finishes
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Heavy gauge steel construction
  • Welded construction
  • Special flange requirements
  • Plastic construction
  • Plenum sections
