Our controlled release VitalDose® EVA pharmaceutcial copolymers meet the chemical and physical properties required for many drug formulations. VitalDose® EVA can be processed at low temperatures to accommodate sensitive biologics; furthermore, has broad solubility characteristics for small molecules. This ethylene vinyl acetate may be processed with a variety of manufacturing methods and is compatible with additional excipients to address specific drug formulation, release and delivery requirements.

Multiple pharmaceutical grades of VitalDose® EVA can be combined into a single device to achieve a specific drug release profile. The below diagram illustrates a hypothetical design where: vitaldose-zero-order-delivery (1) VitalDose® EVA with 40% vinyl acetate serves as a drug matrix and (2) VitalDose® EVA with 18% vinyl acetate on the exterior of the implant serves as the rate control membrane. The result is a drug delivery system with high drug loading providing zero-order release characteristics.

VitalDose® EVA is biostable, making it possible to engineer dosing profiles (Zero-order, First-order or other nonlinear profiles) over long periods of time (e.g., months to years). The polymer’s durability allows for the reliable removal of the implant to disrupt therapy, if necessary. High drug loadings (>75%) are possible while maintaining desired mechanical properties. The technology platform is compatible with proteins, peptides and small molecules. Pharmaceutical formulators and device developers can rely on the clinical and commercialized drug history of VitalDose® EVA.
