Fluorescent Replacements Services
With all the LED tubes coming into the US market is it time to consider replacing your fluorescent lights? The US Department of Energy has even warned that many of the commercial replacement LED lights do not yet offer comparable performance and light output versus a fluorescent light. Before jumping on the LED band wagon you should make sure whatever LED light replacement you use will provide a similar, if not greater level of performance. Most of the LEDs are coming out of Asia and of very high quality. With that said, there are other LED products which find their way into the US market which are inferior and won’t equal the existing performance.

Inferior components and design, no certification, this isn’t unusual when new technology/products enter the marketplace from overseas manufacturers. Asian companies making LED lighting products are popping up all over, especially in China which are tying to take advantage of the coming wave of retrofits in the US and other countries.
Things to Consider When Selecting an LED
When selecting an LED lighting product, (or any other product) you should start with who you are buying it from. Buying from an established, reputable company which backs up their LEDs should be the first thing to consider in the event there is a problem. Next, you should check (and ask) about the certifications the LED has. Does it have a UL, DLC, CE or other type of government certification which ensures your getting a tested product which has been vetted?
Performance is the Key
LEDs by nature (design) are very directional, emitting light in only one direction. Fluorescent lights have the advantage (in some instances) using reflectors which are incorporated into the fixture design. This helps generate more to disburse more of the florescent light in the area which the light is being used. Other very important criteria to consider when comparing the effectiveness of an LED replacement is, light output, color quality, distribution of light, number of lumen and the all important cost-effectiveness. Regardless of energy savings, which usually amount to 50% when replacing a florescent tube with an LED, other benefits would be less objective like less eye strain on the employees who have to work all day under florescent lights. Somewhat subjective, but you could actually improve work performance in an office with better lighting using LEDs. They also are the ideal solution to “over-bright” office areas and cooler office since less heat is generated.
LED is an every evolving technology, and at Brite LED Lighting we follow closely the new developments in the industry. Once a rare, specialty niche item for specialty type of lighting applications, LEDs have now improved and starting to be stocked in Home Depots and other large big box retailers.
Given all the benefits of LED the time has come to replace your florescent lighting with an LED lighting solutions once you identify a good, high-quality product.
