As a leading suppliers in the power transmission industry, we have commissioned four internationally known experts to write this manual on power transmission. Different topics are dealt with, from history to mathematical theories, through advanced designing instruments to production process" quality control. This manual is directed towards anyone who deals with power transmission in a technical way, from university students to professionals.
The manual is made up of five parts. In the first part, Darle W. Dudley gives an historical vision of the technological development of power transmission in the span of four millenium. In the second section, Jacques Sprengers presents today`s mechanical theories. The third part is dedicated to the thorough treatment of gears and gearboxes, starting from sophisticated theories to the practical development of ring gears, axles, frames, bearings, etc. The fourth section, edited by Dierc Scröder, focuses on all forms of electric machines. Lastly, in the final part, Haijme Yamashina describes the reliability standards set by Bonfiglioli Riduttori and the quality control system created to maintain that standard.
