SHARE
Geo-energy for heating or cooling buildings is a renewable energy available locally, all the time and usable with a small footprint. It consists in extracting from the subsurface its coolness in summer or its heat in winter. We therefore use the underground property to keep a constant temperature of around 12-15 °C all year round, below a depth of 5m and up to a few tens of meters. Geo-energy is sometimes referred to as ground source heat pumps, but even if the ground helps maximizing heat pump performance, the subsurface remains the key energy source !

If there is a ground water under the building, this water is extracted with one well and then re-injected with another. This solution is possible in dense areas, it is even possible to drill from inside the building.

Underground exchanger

If there is no water, we build «geothermal probes » in which we circulate a fluid in closed loop.

Heat pump in addition

Starting from the subsurface temperature to heat or cool a building using a heat pump allows you to use it much more optimally than if you start from the outside air as for most conventional air conditioners. This free preheating or pre-cooling in fact allows consumption to be divided by four or five.

Free cooling

For the cooling of buildings, it is even possible when allowed by building installations, like radiant ceilings or floors, to obtain from the ground twenty times more energy than the installation requires: this is called “free cooling”, when a fluid is circulated directly at the subsurface temperature, without the use of a heat pump.
