Load Analysis Services
During its long service life, a wind turbine is exposed to extremely high dynamic loads. Simulation of these loads by sophisticated aero-elastic simulation tools taking into account all relevant turbine and environmental parameters is the starting point for all wind turbine developments. Load case simulation and preparation of the required documentation ready for certification are standard procedures at aerodyn. The load case simulations are performed for all required international standards such as DNV-GL guideline or IEC-61400 standard.
aerodyn uses aeroFlex and HAWC2 for load case simulations.
aeroFlex is the result of ongoing in-house development of the tried-and-tested FLEX5 code. aeroFlex has an easy-to-use graphical user interface for input of the wind turbine data as well as extensive routines for analysis and post-processing of the generated load time series. Another feature of aeroFlex is that all kinds of offshore foundation structures and the wave loads affecting them can also be taken into account. A newly developed, DNV-GL approved wind model enables aeroFlex to simulate the wind loads under typhoon conditions. Only this simulation can assure the structural integrity of wind turbines in typhoon risk areas. Our load case simulation software aeroFlex is verified by numerous certifications for wind turbine development projects at all well-known and established certification authorities. aeroFlex is also available for licensing. HAWC2 (Horizontal Axis Wind turbine simulation Code 2nd generation) is an aero-elastic code intended for calculating wind turbine response in time domain developed by DTU Wind Energy in Denmark. HAWC2 is based on multibody formulation and can simulate every type of wind turbine concept including floating offshore structures, vertical axis wind turbine, multiple rotors and other non-standard wind turbine configurations.
