Shearwater were the main marine contractor for the installation of 4 x 2km sub sea cables, installed of Billia Croo, Orkney in May 2003. The cables were all installed to schedule as part of the development of E.M.E.C and its wave power installations.

With a value of £1.07million this was the largest project untertaken by Shearwater to date and involved the installation of 4 separate cables of approx. 1.5 to 2.0km each.The cable laying vessel was chartered by Shearwater as well as a support vessel from MarineCo UK and all cable lying equipment Shearwater supplied safety and transfer boats.
The work was scheduled to start in May 2003 and be complete on May 31st 2003 - both targets were achieved.
In conjunction with RJ McLeod and Hydro Contracting the cables were laid, protected and inspected under the supervision of Marine Superintendant Paul Winder of Winder Associates all landing and cable surveys were carried out by Shearwater's dive teams.
