EUROSOL GmbH undertakes research in the field of concentrator technology using solar cells in cooperation with Mannheim University of Applied Sciences (Germany). The project is sponsored by a grant from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
The research work aims at developing lenses, which can focus the sunlight more effectively and thereby deliver increased power yields from photovoltaic cells. A new stripe-shaped method of focusing the light through the lenses can achieve up to seven times higher yields from the same solar cell area.EUROSOL wants to use this system in order to significantly increase the cost-benefit-ratio of solar systems as well as increasing the yield using concentrator systems and reducing the investment costs for major system projects.
