THE INDUSTRY’S LEADING UNION

Representing over 80% of the sector’s sales and workforce, it is the industry’s representative union, and the recognized contact for the various ministries and central administrations.

MORE THAN 80 MANDATES

With over 80 mandates, GICAN participates in the work of numerous government-industry dialogue bodies, as well as in the work of the Comité France Maritime alongside the Secrétariat Général de la Mer and the Cluster Maritime Français.rnrnGICAN is a member of the Comité Stratégique de Filière (CSF) des Industriels de la Mer, attached to the Conseil National de l’Industrie. GICAN is a trade federation member of UIMM and France Industrie.

A MEMBER OF CIDEF

Along with GICAT and GIFAS, GICAN is a member of the Conseil des Industries de Défense Françaises (CIDEF), which conveys messages common to all three groups.

A EUROPEAN IMPACT

In Brussels, GICAN works with the European associations The Shipyards’ & Maritime Equipment Association of Europe (SEA Europe) and AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD).

with regional, national and European public and political players, to promote an institutional and political environment favorable to the development of our industry, in both the civilian and military arenas.

PROMOTE FRENCH MARITIME TECHNOLOGICAL AND INDUSTRIAL EXPERTISE

by highlighting the expertise of its members, both in France and abroad. GICAN also federates the French pavilions at ship shows around the world, and organizes the EURONAVAL and EUROMARITIME boat shows through its subsidiary SOGENA.

SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT AND COMPETITIVENESS OF THE MARITIME INDUSTRY

by participating in the structuring of the sector to meet the challenges faced by manufacturers: Innovation and its financing: co-hosting with the French government of the Conseil d`Orientation de Recherche des Industriels de la Mer (CORIMER) and accelerating start-ups via SEAstart; Employment, training and skills, notably via support for CINav, the National Campus for the Marine Industries, and Navire des Metiers; Economic and collective intelligence to support the development of companies in France and abroad.
