Energy Optimization Software

SHARE

Connected LED lighting combined with Energy optimization software gives you visibility into your lighting infrastructure’s energy use. This insight helps identify opportunities for further energy savings, either through dimming, scheduling and zoning, or by using presence detection sensors on the street lights to regulate light levels based on traffic and pedestrian use.

Benefits for city managers

  • Save energy, lower costs :  Switching to LED will deliver up to 70% energy savings. And by adding smart controls, you can save up to 80%. Use sensors to detect when people or cars are present, so the lighting can be dimmed at times when the streets are empty.
  • Better decision-making : Continuous energy consumption measurement and data enables new insight that supports more informed decisions to help improve operational efficiency and optimize lighting performance.
  • Continuous improvement : View real-time or historic data on lighting-based energy consumption across your city. Use this data to gain insights in order to create benchmarks and improvement initiatives to further drive energy efficiency that reduces CO2 emissions and costs.
  • Meet sustainability goals : Continuous monitoring and data collection regarding energy consumption make it easier to meet sustainability targets and gives you the data to support your city`s sustainability programs and goals.

Benefits for utility companies

  • Mitigate the risk of brownout : Regulate energy consumption from street lighting to prevent peak demand exceeding capacity, saving the city from a brownout and protecting your corporate reputation.
  • Lower energy consumption during peak demand : Street lighting that consumes less energy allows utility companies to better manage energy demand in relation to capacity, prolonging the life span of the existing power infrastructure and reducing the need for costly upgrades.

How Energy optimization works
LED street lighting coupled with smart controls reduces energy consumption up to 80%. Connected LED lighting enables smart lighting control and enables data to be collected for each light point, which is then transmitted over a network and analyzed to provide new insight.

The Interact City dashboard visualizes energy use data, providing information on how much energy is consumed per light point, per zone, and on an hourly, daily, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.

By adding presence detection sensors to the connected street lights, you can further reduce energy usage by using the software to dim light levels automatically if people or vehicles are not detected.

Flexibility and choice
We give cities flexibility by offering both individual light point and group control in one platform, as well as a range of connectivity options, such as licensed cellular networks and unlicensed radio frequency communications architectures.

Open APIs
Open, secure APIs enable Energy Optimization software to be integrated with other city dashboards and IT systems.  This allows lighting control and data synchronization to be aligned with the overarching city management system. APIs also enable the city to share real-time and historic energy usage data with third parties who could create additional software apps or services on behalf of the city.

Secured in the cloud or on premise
Data gathered from the street lighting can be stored on premise or in the cloud depending on the customer’s preference or data governance policy. The city owns the data and can share it with third parties or independent software vendors.
