GPM Hybrid PPC - Hybrid Power Plant Controller (HPPC) for Managing Power Distribution in Renewable Energy Systems
The GPM Hybrid Power Plant Controller (HPPC) is engineered to manage the active power distribution between photovoltaic (PV) plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). By integrating with the Power Plant Controller (PPC) system, it ensures compliance with grid regulations and transmission system operator (TSO) requirements. The HPPC architecture blends PPC software, facilitating operators to oversee multiple operational modes, allocate setpoints between PV and BESS, and monitor actual power flow. Its ability to meet grid specifications extends to third-party SCADA systems, as well as proprietary GPM SCADA and the standalone GPM HMI PPC web application, highlighting its adaptability. The hybrid control system prioritizes BESS, offering fast frequency response and coordinated BESS-PV management to sustain the setpoint at the Point of Interconnection (POI). Furthermore, it incorporates a battery management system that governs BESS operations by implementing limitations on charging and discharging based on State of Charge (SoC), ensuring balance within multi-BESS setups.A single GPM PPC device that integrates HPPC architecture with PPC software, enabling operators to manage multiple operating modes, divide set points between PV and BESS, and detect active power flow.
GPM HPPC: grid compliance
GPM PPC meets grid requirements and works with third-party SCADA, self-developed GPM SCADA, and a standalone web application called GPM HMI PPC, providing flexibility from the SCADA system onsite.
The hybrid PPC controls architecture divides the PPC’s internal setpoint between BESS and PV inverters, enabling site operators to choose from various control modes and functionalities
Four different control modes are available: PV plants can adjust their power output to meet POI active power setpoints, or local setpoints can be satisfied independently of POI setpoints.
