OpenMetrics - Web Portal
The OpenMetrics portal is an online web service which allows users to manage meter readings collected automatically from GPRS smart meters. The service can be used for visualizing energy generation from solar PV, wind, CHP or other sources of energy generation, as well as normal consumption or export metering.
Features
- Daily / Half-Hour Meter Readings
OpenMetrics is updated once a day with the latest meter reading and a half-hour profile of meter readings. - Export Metering
To fully utilise meter functionality for measuring bi-directional energy flow, OpenMetrics can display import and export half-hour profiling together for analysing net energy consumption, and surplus energy for export meters. - 2.5G GSM Communications
OpenMetrics is fully compatible with Emlite, Elster and Iskraemeco GSM meters. All meters are fully MID approved for MCS accredited feed-in-tariff metering and can be used as billing meters. Communication is over 2.5G GPRS multi-network roaming SIM cards. - Low and High Energy Threshold Alerts
Where a meter has measured energy the exceeds a high threshold or drops below a low threshold limit, an email is sent out to identify the meters that need attention. - Manage User Access Rights
Asset managers can share meters in sub-accounts or make individual meters publicly accessible from the control panel. - Track Feed-in-Tariff Earnings or Expenditure
A feed-in-tariff rate can be entered for each meter to track earnings over time. OpenMetrics can also calculate aggregated income from portfolios (groups of meters). Alternatively an energy purchase rate can be entered for billing purposes or tracking expenditure.
Software Details
PVIGS, or Photovoltaic Geographical Information Survey, is a database model of solar irradiation and light levels across Europe. OpenMetrics uses this information to accurately predict the yield of a solar photovoltaic power plant to compare against actual meter readings. This makes it easy to identify under-performing solar systems.
There are 2 databases to choose from, Classic PVGIS and Climate-SAF PVGIS. Or you can manually enter a predicted total for each month of the year.
The performance ratio is a percentage calculated from actual meter readings over predicted energy yields. It is the primary indicator for PVGIS benchmarking to identify systems that are under or overperforming.
OpenMetrics can generate dynamic charts for plotting actual output with predicted yields for analysing performance of solar photovoltaic generation over time.
Portfolio summary charts can aggregate predicted and actual totals for 1000’s of meters to assess the cumulative performance for groups of meters.
With the EMC1 Twin Element meter from Em-lite, Openmetrics can show how much energy is being generated from solar photovoltaic and how much of this energy is actually being used or is being exported to the grid as surplus.
Energy from solar or other source of renewable energy is measured by the twin element generation meter.
Energy that is purchased from the grid is measured on the along with surplus energy exported to the grid.
By removing grid export from generation, we can monitor how much of the PV energy is actually being used.
