Automatic switching to other modes

In the unexpected event of a power failure, the Big Ass Battery continues to deliver uninterrupted and continuity is ensured. When mains power returns, Big Ass Battery vice versa switches back to the grid “silently. Similar to a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). Unlike other systems, with Big Ass Battery this process occurs without the intervention of inverters – and therefore without loss of performance.

Completely off-grid with a Generator Set (Genset)

De Big Ass Battery operates completely off-grid. You can even choose to have the battery off-grid drive a (hydrogen) generator to have it recharge when needed. Through the menu, you can easily control how the battery “communicates” with the generator. You can set up to the minute when the battery should be automatically charged or start charging.

Efficiently delivering additional power during grid reinforcement

If the battery is placed between the main connection and the customer, the battery can provide additional power. Where power does not go through inverters first, the Big Ass Battery will provide only the additional power requested. Highly efficient compared to competitors’ battery systems, which lose in performance due to inverter intervention. For Big Ass Battery, it applies ‘what you see is what you get’. Input is output. Technically admittedly a head-scratcher. So how our smart assesbuild this is unique. Bidirectional supplemental feeding if needed does the trick – achieving an efficiency of 98%. This costs no extra energy with us, so we trump the competition with lower energy costs.

Machine learning: charging and delivery based on percentage of expected solar energy and variable energy rates

If solar panels are installed on the declining side, the battery itself detects when energy is fed back to the grid. Before the excess capacity is returned, the battery will first recharge so that the “normally” returned energy can first be used by itself. Based on machine learning, the battery itself calculates the maximum percentage it can be charged to in order to leave room for the expected solar energy. Talk about efficiency!

Our powerhouse can even determine when to charge based on variable energy rates. For example, the battery cannot charge before when rates are low – and feed back when rates are high. Even at times you preset. The basic need is always leading here and therefore has priority. Big Ass Battery is betting on peakshaving; a form of energy management aimed at capturing peaks in power demand, using power smarter.

Battery as a revenue model

By using smart algorithms, the Big Ass Battery also becomes an interesting revenue model – and thus, in effect, a “trading battery. Where every kWh is utilized smartly, charging and feed-in is done based on variable energy rates, the investment in a Big Ass Battery actually pays for itself in the long run. Win-win!
