Designed for customization
Each of our customers has so many specifics in the business processes, calculation methods or grid topology that it makes any adoption of an off-the-shelf product very challenging. Instead of tweaking a blackbox solution, Griffin offers a set of building blocks that allow building of a tailored solution. Moreover, such a solution keeps the pace with ever-changing agendas of the customer.

Modularity and flexibility
Griffin allows adding new components and modules as needed. Software solutions built over Griffin platform evolve together with the customer.

Built for server deployment
Griffin natively supports scalability, high availability, process orchestration or integration with external systems. It is not a desktop application that was moved to the datacenter as it is sometimes the case with solutions for grid analysis.

Future-proof technology
Griffin is based on recent but proven technologies. Its architecture is modern and open as much as possible, providing a firm foundation that shall last and grow with the growing business of the customer for many years.

Strategy of openess
All business features available through the user interface can also be accessed via open APIs, which ensures interoperability, integration and/or extension of the solution with 3rd party products or systems. Moreover, an extensive technical documentation is provided as part of the delivery.

An extensive need for coordination within the European electrical grid planning and operation brings many challenges to Transmission System Operators and Regional Security Coordinators. Their information systems must support all - pan-European and regional methodologies coming from the legal framework, specific requirements, needs and processes of a particular organization.

Their systems cannot be built for one purpose/process only; they shall rather follow the modular principle and natively support extensibility and reusability. This is the only way how such systems can continuously support ever-evolving methodologies, future needs in the given domain and requirements for integration with other systems.

Griffin platform solves all of these needs. And more - it brings to the field the latest technological trends.

Griffin supports all essential operations with grid models:
  • Import and export of models in UCTE-DEF and CGMES format
  • Load-flow calculations using various numerical methods and their combinations
  • Model merging including the substitution of missing models
  • Model scaling
  • Model validation
  • Handling of tie-line inconsistencies and more
Griffin offers various tools for analysis of the grid models:
  • Grid presentation and visual analysis (searching elements, displaying selected voltage levels etc.)
  • Browsing model content (busses, lines, transformers and their parameters – statuses, analog values, tap positions, limits)
  • Island identification
  • Generation and load statistics – P, Q generation and loads, losses
  • Area exchanges and related tie-line flow list
  • Contingency analysis
  • PST optimization
  • Optimization of remedial actions
  • etc.
SEleNe-CC (Southeast Electricity Network Coordination Centre) is the regional security coordinator for the area of South-Eastern Europe based in Thessaloniki, Greece. The company has been founded by four transmission system operators: IPTO (Greece), ESO-EAD (Bulgaria), TERNA SpA (Italy), and Transelectrica (Romania). The main objective of the company is to maintain the operational security of the Electricity System in South-Eastern Europe.

The turnkey solution based on Griffin supports all the processes a security coordinator should cover. From the beginning of 2021, the CGM and CCC services were used in the parallel run mode. During this phase the results of the services were proven to be in line with expectations of transmission system operators in SEE region, offering as much trading capacity as possible on the energy market while maintaining the security and stability of the grid.
Starting from 1st of July 2021, Selene-CC officially started to provide the CGM, CCC and CSA service to its stakeholders. Results of CCC (cross-border capacities) are used as an input for the energy market. Furthermore, starting from 1st of October 2021, Selene-CC calculates the cross-border capacities for the Intraday time horizon.
