Boiler and Pressure Vessel Repair Seminar (RO) Training
The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Repair Seminar (RO) is designed to take organizations preparing to perform repairs and/or alterations in accordance with the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) through the process from start to finish. Day one takes students through the National Board accreditation process in its entirety, including an overview of the NBIC. Detailed information on accreditation focuses on quality control programs, QC manuals, and forms and applications.
Days two and three continue with a step-by-step through the repair process. Instructors will guide students through a repair and alteration beginning with determining the scope of the repair/alteration to final stamping and proper documentation.
Learning Outcomes Seminar Agenda
After attending this training students will be able to:
- Describe the National Board Accreditation Program
- Use necessary forms and applications
- Describe the process to obtain and/or renew an “R” Stamp
- Assess materials and material control
- Evaluate repair plans
- Perform design and alteration calculation analysis
- Evaluate welding (WPSs, PQRs, WPQs, and SWPs)
- Explain stamping and registration
Reference Materials
Each student is required to bring the following materials (currently mandated edition):
- ASME Section IX, Welding and Brazing Qualifications
- National Board Inspection Code, Part 3, Repairs and Alterations
Criteria for Successful Completion
As a minimum, for a National Board Certificate of Completion to be issued, students must:
- actively participate in classroom assignments,
- have an attendance of 80%, and
- complete the course evaluation survey.
