In today's power plant, coal flow imbalance remains a common problem for pulverized coal-fired boilers.

Coal is fed into the coal pulveriser and crashed into pulverised coal. The heated primary air will transport the pulverised coal to the burner via coal fuel pipes.

In general, the coal mills are installed on one side of the boiler while the complex coal fuel piping system surrounds the boiler.
