Black river falls hydro - Case study

CHC provided a complete water-to-wire equipment package to the City of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, for the upgrade of its Black River Falls Hydroelectric Dam, located on the east bank of the Black River in Jackson County, Wisconsin.

This historic dam rebuilding project was completed in June 2012, and involved the installation of an additional low-flow generating unit. The water-to-wire equipment package supplied by CHC included a 1250 mm vertical axial flow Kaplan turbine, 550 kW/400 RPM synchronous generator with switchgear, controls and protection package.
