The Newport Hydro plant was acquired by Great Bay Hydro Corporation in 2004. The powerplant, located on the Clyde River in Newport, VT, is one of four hydro plants owned by the hydro developer and is a three unit production facility with an operating capacity of over 7 MW.
Two of the plant’s Francis runners have been replaced with new equipment. In 2010, CHC provided a new 620 mm Francis runner to replace the plant’s # 3 unit, which also included the refurbishment of the existing distributor-runner chest assembly. In 2012, CHC supplied a new 1016 mm Francis runner to replace the plant’s # 2 unit, which was fitted to the existing shaft
