About Us:
3D-Micromac started the development of laser engraving systems in 2004. Using excimer laser systems with wavelengths in the ultraviolet range, sub-micron marking sizes in top-quality can be generated – no matter whether organic or mineral glasses are to be machined.
From the market demand for flexible temporary labeling of lenses 3D-Micromac subsequently developed digital inkjet printing systems for non-permanent marking of goggles and lenses in 2005. The inkjet systems are a real alternative for ophthalmic lens printing because of much more flexibility, high accuracy as well as an unique printing quality, even on super hydrophobic lenses.
Since 2010, the portfolio has been complemented by expanding the joint range of laser system products for the permanent labeling of contact lenses.
With over 200 systems installed worldwide and an approx. 80 percent global market share of all premium labeling systems of ophthalmic and contact lenses, 3D-Micromac has established itself as the market leader in the field of ophthalmic marking systems.
Core Competencies
Our expertise in laser machining
Since its founding in 2002, 3D-Micromac AG has gained an established position as one of the leading suppliers of laser micromachining systems with sales and service partners in North America, Asia and Europe.
The different processing methods that are realized with our laser systems include micro drilling, signing, cutting, 2D and 3D structuring, welding as well as marking of different materials and thin films.
Extremely precise positioning systems, innovative beam-delivery concepts as well as numerous process monitoring methods offer the highest possible process reliability and a maximum speed of machining. The utilization of lasers possessing highest beam quality ensures excellent machining results regarding surface and edge quality with a minimum of damage to the material and marginal materials loss.
Printing and coating technologies for the production of flexible electronics
3D-Micromac AG offers optimal coating and printing technologies combined with highly precise laser processes, different drying, annealing and pre-treatment steps as well as the encapsulation of the finished end product for the production of electronics on flexible substrates, for example organic solar cells, light-emitting diodes or displays, printed batteries, flexible PCBs or RFID antennas.
Depending on the requirements, these processes can be realized under environmental conditions, a partial or whole inert gas atmosphere and even cleanroom conditions.
The modular production systems work from roll-to-roll and can machine different substrates based on polymers (PET, PEN and other polymer films), paper or metal foil. This way, the systems offer greatest possible flexibility regarding all the different requirements for the production of flexible electronics. They guarantee a high security of investment and constitute a decisive technological advantage with the ability to be adapted to changing markets.
Many years of experience in micromachining make 3D-Micromac a qualified partner with highest precision in the entire production process.
History
3D-Micromac AG was founded in 2002 by Tino Petsch and Jens Hänel with six employees in Chemnitz. Since then the company has experienced continuous growth to meanwhile more than 140 employees.
Since its founding, 3D-Micromac AG has consistently focused on international and strongly growing high-tech markets. As one of the first companies worldwide 3D-Micromac has applied ultra short pulse lasers for material processing. The company developed and sold its first commercial laser micromachining system already in 2003 with integrated femto and picosecond lasers. Another core competence is the utilization of Excimer lasers for micro machining. More than 100 Excimer laser systems of 3D-Micromac are working in industrial production. All laser processes can be used in standard production from piece to piece as well in a roll to roll production.
For its innovative capacity and business performance since its formation, 3D-Micromac AG has been honored with a number of awards. For example:
- 2013: Winner of the Solar Industry Award
- 2012: Tino Petsch receives award as “Entrepreneur of the Year”
- 2011: Winner of “Excellence Award” from Taiwan Laser Application Forum
- 2011: Winner of “futureSAX Growth Prize”
- 2011: Winner of “SPIE Green Photonics Award”
- 2007: Winner of “Innovation Award” of the Free State of Saxony
3D-Micromac AG has started early to build up sales co-operations with established partners from the laser industry as well as worldwide sales partnerships, for example in Asia and North America. Aiming at an intensified customer relationship, the establishment of 3D-Micromac America, LLC was initiated in 2014.
In order to provide space for the planned expansion, the new company headquarters on Smart Systems Campus Chemnitz were opened in April 2009. Due to steady growth, a second building, the microFLEX Center, was opened in May 2012.
3D-Micromac AG has gained an established position among producers of innovative laser micromachining systems in just under 10 years. The company was able to create a stable basis for dynamic growth in international markets with new, convincing products.
