Ashtead Technology Ltd

Ashtead Technology was formed in 1985 when Ashtead Group plc acquired SubSpek Limited, which at the time provided underwater positioning, survey and inspection equipment rental from a base in Aberdeen. In 1994 the Singapore base was opened, focussing on the offshore oil and gas industry and the subsea telecommunications cable market in Asia Pacific. The first US operation was opened in 1997 in Houston, TX to service the North American Offshore market, principally in the Gulf of Mexico. The Instrument Division grew rapidly with the acquisition of Response Rentals Inc. in 2000. It started to provide environmental monitoring equipment and sampling instruments initially from four locations in the US and one in Canada. Since then, the Instrument Division has grown to over 15 offices in North America and a dedicated location in the UK was opened in 2004, providing equipment to European customers.
