Promoting renewable energy is at the core of any country’s low-carbon development strategy. Over the last decade, the carbon market has helped finance countless wind, solar, biomass and other projects. Given the diverse range of activities, and volume of emissions from the energy sector, potential for further emission reduction projects is tremendous, but depending on the appropriate regulatory and financial incentives being put in place.Procedures and methodologies for renewable energy projects are well established, yet many projects still struggle to obtain finance for their investment due to complex regulatory issues.  Climate Focus is supporting the development and transaction of the carbon component of renewable energy projects from large to small projects. We provide services with regard to origination, carbon due diligence, contracting, financing and support of regulatory issues and provide expert advice in the most challenging of cases.

Buildings are a major and rapidly growing source of greenhouse gas emissions accounting for more than 40 percent of global energy used, and as much as one third of global greenhouse gas emissions. These emissions are directly linked to decisions in our daily lives: how we power our homes and office directly affects how much greenhouse gases we emit. Yet, today, the building sector is largely missing out from the carbon market due to a scarcity of methodologies, undefined baselines, poor access to capital, and unequal benefit sharing.  There is vast potential to adopt better building and energy efficiency measures, and employ renewable energy sources to inexpensively lower emissions with strong social benefits.
