In 2009, the Myer Foundation and Monash University realised that Australia needed a new approach to drive action on climate change. One that understood the interests of business, government and investors and was trusted to be an independent, credible advisor in Australia`s transition to a prosperous low carbon future. That`s why they partnered to create ClimateWorks Australia - an independent, research-based, non-profit organisation committed to catalysing reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in Australia. Since then, ClimateWorks has built a reputation as a trusted, credible and fact-based broker by working in partnership with leaders from the private, public and non-profit sectors.
What we do
From our Low Carbon Growth Plan for Australia, to our regional work and industry partnerships, we focus on the needs of business, government and investors. We work with them to drive Australia’s transition to a low carbon economy. We combine this experience with robust and innovative research to build practical analysis and solutions - solutions that can deliver lasting reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in the fastest and most cost-effective way.
We focus on three core activities:
We identify and quantify the most efficient opportunities to reduce emissions across all sectors of the economy, and the barriers that prevent them from being implemented.
We partner with business, government and communities to unblock the barriers to reducing carbon emissions.
We measure national progress to help ensure Australia meets its goals on climate change.
