LAND® applications

Hydrogen production processes (e.g., steam methane reforming). Hydrogen is produced from the steam reforming process by heating hydrocarbons to generate hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide. Efficiency and plant condition depends on accurate temperature monitoring.

Thermal treatment (e.g., annealing, tempering) of materials. Heat treating metals to enhance their metallurgical qualities necessitates high accuracy temperature measurement and control. In many of these processes contact temperature devices cannot be used.  AMETEK Land provides accurate Non-contact solutions tailored to these processes.

Semiconductor fabrication processes (wafer processing, etc.). Successful semiconductor processing depends on the quality of the silicon wafer. Accurate temperature measurement is critical to the quality and yield of the wafer production process.

Solar industry processes (e.g., photovoltaic cell production). Solar power use continues to grow, demanding an increasingly high standard of components. Accurate temperature measurements are required to deliver the quality required.

Battery production processes (thermal management in battery manufacturing). Lithium-ion batteries have transformed the way we power our devices and vehicles, offering a rechargeable, high-energy-density solution that has become the cornerstone of modern portable electronics and electric vehicles (EVs).

Biomass fuel production or usage processes in energy generation. Biomass fuels such as wood pellets, bagasse and hog fuels can be burned to generate power. However, they are more susceptible to spontaneous combustion than traditional fuels such as bituminous coal.

Coal power generation processes (combustion monitoring, etc.). Coal remains one of the most widely-used sources of energy for power generation. Accurate monitoring is essential to demonstrate compliance with environmental regulations and to ensure safe, efficient operation.

Combined heat and power (CHP) generation processes. Cogeneration plants generate both electricity and usable heat. This is a more thermally efficient process than generating electricity only. Many of the solutions for other power applications apply equally to cogeneration plants.

Measures to boost energy efficiency in industrial processes. Decarbonisation trends will change how industrial operators work – forcing end-users, technology licensors, and instrument manufacturers to continuously seek incremental and radical improvements to process efficiency.
