P1 port is a connection to a smart meter. A smart meter is an energy meter which other meters can be connected such as gas meter, water meter, heat meter (district heating), etc. A smart meter sends all meter readings once a day to the grid operator. The network operator`s data can further give to interested and authorized parties. The P1 port is a connection that was created specifically for the smart meters to enable all the data from the meters also have locally and available immediately. P1 port will send a large amount of information about one time per 10 seconds. This information includes the kWh consumption, feeding into the grid and gas consumption (if the meter is connected).
