History
Norwin A/S was founded in January 1992 as an engineering company within wind turbine technology. Back in those days, the name of the company was Windgineering ApS and then later changed to WEA Engineering A/S. The present name was introduced in 2001.
After establishing the company, the product portfolio of the former wind turbine supplier Danwin was taken over. The portfolio mainly comprised a 225 kW wind turbine, originally developed by Mr. Per Lading. The continuous development of this turbine has led to what is today’s NORWIN 29-Stall-225 kW wind turbine.
In the name of Windgineering and with Mr. Ole Sangill as design manager, a 600 kW wind turbine was developed for a German licensee. The prototype was erected in 1995 and was the first generation of the present NORWIN 47-ASR-750 kW wind turbine.
For a number of years, the activities of the company were mainly focused on development and research, and a number of research projects were implemented with financial assistance from the EU Commission as well as the Danish Energy Agency. However, step by step the focus was turned on sales and exploration of the products developed, and in 2007 the first contracts for license production of the NORWIN wind turbines were signed with partners in India and China. Together with the world famous Bahrain World Trade Centre project these were the foundation and beginning of what NORWIN is today.
Today, NORWIN’s primary focus is on sales of own developed wind turbines for license production in cooperation with licensees around the world. The NORWIN licensees enjoy the market’s most thorough technology transfer together with a very highest quality wind turbine technology.
