The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCI), is the leading and trusted voice of the Canadian nuclear supply chain actively promoting the production of safe, clean and reliable nuclear electricity. Founded in 1979, OCI is an association of 200 leading Canadian suppliers to the nuclear industry in Canada and abroad. OCI member companies collectively employ more than 12,000 highly skilled and specialized people who manufacture major equipment and components and provide engineering services and support to the 19 operating CANDU nuclear power plants in Canada as well as to CANDU and LWR plants in offshore markets. OCI companies also work on medical and other safe applications of nuclear technology. Nuclear Power provides more than 50% of electrical energy in Ontario and contributes over $6.6 B/year to the Canadian economy with export sales over $1.2 B per annum. Canada is the world’s second largest producer of uranium at 10,000 tonnes/year.

Mission
OCI’s mission is to promote the Canadian nuclear industry for the benefit of its members and by offering services that enable members to be successful in the domestic and global nuclear industry.
OCI supports the Canadian Nuclear Industry by:
- Participating in CNSC public hearings on utility license applications
- Participating in a nuclear industry leadership group that has developed a compelling long term vision for the Canadian nuclear industry and undertaking initiatives that can help achieve this vision;
- Collaborating with nuclear industry associations such as the CNA, COG, UNENE, CNS, WIN and NAYGN;
- Advocating for the Canadian nuclear industry in newspaper and media interviews:
- Presenting the Annual OCI Jack Howett awards to deserving nuclear engineering and science students at McMaster, UOIT and UNB.
- Enabling select high school students to participate in the Deep River Science Academy summer program
OCI Member Benefits:
- Participate in supplier events with nuclear utilities and meet with utility supply chain and engineering staff

- Attend information sessions at federal and provincial levels with all political parties, Queen’s Park day, etc;

OCI Member Events
OCI organizes annual Supplier Day events with key customers such as the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power, SNC Lavalin/Candu Energy and Westinghouse Electric (Cranberry, PA) to enable member companies to showcase and discuss their products and services with engineers and procurement specialists in these organizations.
OCI also hosts technical and business seminars on topics of current relevance to member companies. These seminars expose member companies to potential new market opportunities and provide insights to emerging supply chain trends. In addition, the Supplier Days and Seminars create networking opportunities that often lead to supplier collaboration and joint ventures.
Trade Missions
OCI is planning trade missions over the next 12 to 18 months to various target markets, with funding assistance from DFAIT – GOA program. Trade Missions, both incoming and outgoing, assist member companies in expanding their opportunities in the global nuclear market.
