In 2007, SCFI was founded with the vision to revolutionise wet waste treatment. The same year, SCFI acquired the worldwide intellectual property rights for the AquaCritox process, along with two AquaCritox units. The inaugural unit was installed in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, Ireland, in May 2008. At this facility, SCFI conducted process optimisation and analysed process waste samples for our customers. While the plant excelled in waste destruction, it encountered challenges related to corrosion and severe fouling, the same issues that had hindered the development of Supercritical Water Oxidation systems since their introduction in laboratory studies in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
