Year Founded:

Spica Technology is an international engineering company dedicated 100% to the wind power industry. We have been in the wind turbine business since 1997, and several of our employees started their engineering in wind in the late eighty’s, some in DanControl Engineering developing the first Vestas controllers (TAC I & TAC II), others around the world installing SCADA systems or working with turbine service. We have considerable experience and know-how in engineering and software for wind turbine solutions - combined with our own specialised production capabilities and high technology test facilities - this makes us the leader in our field: designing and developing control systems for the renewable wind energy industry. We take on wind turbine projects from small one-day projects to large-scale engineering projects where we are in charge of the project management, milestones, FAT test and prototypes.
Wind technology for the world
Spica Technology designs and produces solutions for customers in Europe, India, Australia, North and South America. We like to work with people from different cultures, and we like to be inspired from all around the world.
Most of our customers are turbine owners, turbine manufactures, spare part suppliers, service providers, system suppliers or other consultant/engineering companies.
Sometimes it’s important to know you limit, that’s why we work in a close and valuable collaboration with other actors in the international wind power industry such as aerodynamic specialists, metrological specialists, blade specialists or other engineering companies.
We rely on strong partnerships
Spica Technology is a piece in a big industry puzzle, and therefore we rely on strong and mutually beneficial partnerships with a range of actors within the wind power industry. In relation to our own brand products, such as the Spica Retrofit Controller, we are open to broadening our international network of skilled service providers and turbine sellers to offer current and coming wind turbine owners an affordable alternative to obsolete controllers. In connection with our many custom control system solutions, we also welcome additional, cooperation partners.
Our facilities | Production facilities
At Spica Technology, we have gathered engineering, production and software development under one roof. That ensures strong and reliable solutions with a built in consistency. Spica Technology has a workshop where prototypes and small scale serial production takes place. When a product is ready for high volume production, the customer usually takes over the production, or we recommend skilled sub suppliers.
Our facilities | Test facilities
In our workshop we are able to simulate and test electrical parts and panels for e.g. wind turbines. We can simulate generator cut-in and out, in a real life environment with grid voltage of 400 or 690V (100 kVA). We also have extensive signal generators and equipment including live signals from various wind instruments mounted outside on our meteorology station.
Our facilities | Sales offices in Europe
Spica Technology is represented around Europe with the subsidiaries Spica Controls in Germany and Spain.
