Tempress Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amtech Systems, Inc. Based in Vaassen, The Netherlands, Tempress Systems occupies modern, purpose built premises where it develops and manufactures Vertical and Horizontal Diffusion & LPCVD furnaces for Semiconductor, MEMS, Nano and Solar Industries. The Product range encompasses R&D, Pilot to Fully Automated Production Furnace Systems for processing up to 300 mm wafers.

Atmospheric Processes
Atmospheric
An atmospheric diffusion process is a heat treatment in mostly an inert environment which distributes dopants in a (silicon, GaAs, InP or other semiconductor) wafer to a desired depth. This process changes the electrical properties of the semiconductor. Sometimes a reactive element is added, for example oxygen, which causes the Si wafer to oxidize. Si is then consumed and converted into silicondioxide, SiO2, which can be used in many applications.
Diffusion processes:
- Dry oxidation
- Thin gate oxide (60 Å) with the AMTECH Atmoscan N2 loading system
- Pyrogenic oxidation with water-cooled external torch
- Liquid Flow DI water Injection system for thick oxides (up to 16 µm)
- Wet Oxidation (steam oxidation using waterbubbler system)
- All oxidations can be provided with DCE or HCl
- Annealing process Ar or N2
- 1200 oC clean Ar anneal + Low O2
- Alloy/Sinter process (forming gas to 100% H2)
- Polyamide curing process
- Liquid source deposition process (POCl3, BBr3)
- For Solar Cell applications including rear exhaust configuration for increased safety and controlled waste management
