This is an example of a redundant design incorporating a double-ended unit substation with automated tie breaker controls. There are two sources that feed two loads but there is the added redundancy with the addition of a PLC-controlled automated tie breaker controller.

This is an example of a redundant design incorporating a double-ended unit substation with automated tie breaker controls. There are two sources that feed two loads but there is the added redundancy with the addition of a PLC-controlled automated tie breaker controller. This PLC control system is free-standing but includes reporting capability to a SCADA monitoring system, which provides visibility to the entire electrical distribution system at this data-communications facility. The loads are transmitted through the use of bus duct. We provide the engineering for the routing design and layout and the manufacturing layout drawings to the vendor as well as the coordination of the connections into the switchboards. Our customers have found that the systems that we provide have a much higher level of coordination due to the multiply facets that we are prepared to bring to our projects.

This is our latest design of medium voltage switchgear. It is based on a new development of medium voltage circuit breaker that integrates the trip unit into the circuit breaker which is similar to those typically found on low voltage insulated case circuit breakers.

This metal-clad equipment incorporates the levels of quality and precision to be utilized to provide medium voltage power distribution for the second largest telecommunications facility in the world, which supports worldwide voice and data communications traffic. The electro-mechanical overcurrent and directional overcurrent relays were utilized to match the existing 1960’s era devices that were already in service in an adjacent switchboard, partially manufactured by W.A. Benjamin Electric Co.

Power Metered Switchboard (PMS) Embedded Revenue Grade Metering

A traditional switchboard constructed with embedded power metering on all circuit breakers including the feeder mains. The Benjamin PMS provides a cost-effective and innovative approach to circuit breaker metering. Power parameters such as voltage, current, power, and energy consumption are measured on all branch circuits plus mains. The information can be accessed over the network through a variety of protocols. Data updates are available every second to provide proactive information, such as user-configured low and high threshold alarms for any circuit. The Benjamin PMS is ideal for new or existing applications and is an essential step towards development of your energy management program.

The Benjamin ArcLight TLL panel simplifies the calculated loads while maintaining compliance with state regulations.

Low Voltage Main-Tie-Main Switchboard

We manufacture a complete line of low voltage power distribution switchboards featuring bolt-on circuit breakers, fusible switch units and motor controls. We use an enhanced distribution bussing system, originally designed in the 1950’s, which allows us to accommodate any combination of bolt-on circuit breakers, fusible switches, and/or motor controls mounted in the same distribution switchboard section. Our bussing is precisely punched and tapped for future additions. We stock an extensive inventory of circuit breakers and field installation hardware kits to support our customers’ needs for quick shipments. We typically have a larger inventory on the West Coast than anyone else in our industry – including our vendors. We do not adhere to Just-in-Time inventory practices so that we can better support our clients.
